Our 2022 Gala Weekend has returned. It a chance for visitors to see and photograph three magnificent engines all together in steam. This year we hoping to continue our annual tradition of inviting a special guest to the tracks; we intent to bring a visiting steam locomotive to our railway for this event.
Our Galas are great weekends. They bring together our volunteers, steam enthusiasts and regular family visitors alike to celebrate the wonderful power of steam.
We have the ‘We’re Good to Go’ standard from Visit England and have been busy making changes to our site and how we operate to be Covid-19 secure and protect you, our volunteers and our members of staff. We encourage you to download the NHS COVID-19 App and check in at our site to help stop the spread of Coronavirus.
Ticket pricing includes:
- Access to our Heritage Museum before your train ride
- We recommend you arrive approximately 45 minutes before your train is due to leave if you wish to visit our wonderful heritage museum.
- Trains leave on the hour, please allow enough time to board before the train leaves the station.
Guidance ahead of your visit:

Unlimited rides subject to seat availability.

Trains leave on the hour at 11am 12noon 1pm 2pm 3pm, please allow time to board before the train leaves the station.

On Gala days and Special Events there will be an extra train at 4pm
- We will retain your contact details for 21 days as part of your online booking.
- Face coverings are now optional but we ask for the safety of our staff and volunteers that you continue to wear one if you can.
- We have provided hand sanitiser at the entrance door, around the museum and platform doors. Please make use of these especially before you board the train..
- Extra Cleaning and hygiene regimes are in place, between every train journey, in our museum, shop, tea room and toilets..
- Snacks and hot and cold drinks will be available to purchase in our tea room.
Full refunds will be issued should your reservation have to be cancelled due to Government restrictions or if Covid-19 makes us unable to safely run our passenger trains. If you need to cancel your reservation, we politely request that you let us know at least 3 days in advance for a full refund of your ticket.
